Alfa Romeo's reserve driver Theo Pourchaire is set to take part in free practice within the king class of motorsport this Formula 1 season, French news agency Auto Hebdo reports . The Frenchman is part of the Sauber Academy and is expected to sit in a Formula 1 car twice between now and the end of the season.

In 2022, Pourchaire finished second in the Formula 2 championship behind Felipe Drugovich. The man from Grasse will probably get behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo twice this season. “It will be after Monza, when there will be no F2 for a long time ,” Pourchaire says. "This will allow me to discover new circuits and gain more experience in Formula 1. I'm really looking forward to it. I am really looking forward to it, " said the 20-year-old racing driver.

When will Pourchaire drive in the Formula 1 season?

This announcement naturally begs the question of which circuits will be involved, but no official announcement has been made on that yet. At the Mexican Grand Prix , Frederik Vesti will take the wheel of George Russell at the first free practice session.
