After an exciting qualifying session it is time to make a preliminary grid for the
Sakhir Grand Prix. A race of 87 laps, in which traffic is expected to play an enormous role. A lot of spectacle was also expected in qualifying, but still the two Mercedes drivers are 'just' on the front row of the grid.
Valtteri Bottas starts from pole position, with his temporary teammate,
George Russell, next to him. On the second row of the grid are
Max Verstappen and
Charles Leclerc, the Monegask had a very strong qualification.
Sergio Perez and
Daniil Kvyat will start from the third row of the grid, followed by
Daniel Ricciardo and
Carlos Sainz. The top ten is completed by
Pierre Gasly and
Lance Stroll.
Rookies in the lower positions
The first two drivers with a free choice of tyres are
Esteban Ocon and
Alexander Albon. Behind them are
Sebastian Vettel and
Antonio Giovinazzi.
Lando Norris and
Kevin Magnussen join them behind. Norris had problems in Q2 and therefore had to quit early.
Nicholas Latifi and rookie Jack Aitken are on the ninth row and the last row is filled by
Kimi Raikkonen and Pietro Fittipaldi. There are currently no investigations into stopping fast laps, so it seems that the provisional grid is also going to be the final one.
