Lando Norris and
Max Verstappen are known to be friends on the
F1 grid. In the current season, the two drivers also became title rivals. According to former driver
Ralf Schumacher, the situation may have changed in their relationship, and not sure the two competitors are still friends.
Norris and Verstappen never made it a secret that they get on well. The pair regularly shared images of spending time together, and also arrived to certain Grands Prix flying in the same plane. That has however changed it seems. For example, Verstappen shared at Interlagos that he had no contact with the British driver after their incident in Mexico City.
Ralf Schumacher therefore wonders whether Verstappen and Norris are still friends.
"It's hard to maintain friendships if you're really fighting for the championship and for positions, as they are. They didn't fly together to the last races, as was usually the case," the German told
Formel1.de.
It wouldn't be the first time a championship battle would cause problems in friendships. For example, things also got heated between
Lewis Hamilton and
Nico Rosberg. Schumacher also has a remarkable conclusion about the 2024 contenders.
"I'm not even sure whether the friendship still really exists," he concluded.
