Renault will introduce a new power unit ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix. They join Ferrari who will also introduce a new power unit this weekend, though Haas and Alfa Romeo won't use it.
While Ferrari will be focused on a power and performance increase,
Renault might be looking for some more reliability. Both themselves and
McLaren have picked up issues early in this season. These issues have cost a significant amount of world championship points.
During the Bahrain Grand Prix, both
Daniel Ricciardo and
Nico Hulkenberg broke down almost simultaneously with separate engine issues.
Honda brought their first engine upgrade of the season to Baku. The teams have never been so early with their upgrades reports
Auto Motor und Sport.
In Barcelona, Renault is putting a new power source at the back of the cars of
Daniel Ricciardo and
Nico Hulkenberg is almost on the tax of the engine parts to be used. During the GP at Silverstone, he will most likely install a new power source and receive his first grid penalty for it.
