Qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was a victory for
Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion secured his 99th pole position in his F1 career. Behind the Mercedes driver are the two
Red Bull Racing cars, with
Sergio Perez ahead of
Max Verstappen.
Perez's amazing lap was the biggest point of interest. Two other notable drivers are
Lando Norris and
Valtteri Bottas. Norris saw his fastest lap invalidated by the track limits but was on his way to that front row of the grid with a great lap. Bottas on the other hand disappointed and eventually had to settle for P8.
Both Williams drivers in Q2
In the midfield, it was all very close together. The two Williams drivers both managed to steer their car into the second leg of qualifying, where they came close with P12 and P14, with George Russel missing out on Q3 by a tenth. Yuki Tsunoda had a disappointing afternoon, having parked his car in the wall in Q1. As a result, he will start from last place tomorrow.
