Daniel Ricciardo has said he may sign his contract extension with Red Bull as early as next week. Originally, the Australian seemed to be on the move but has since been locked out of Mercedes following the deals Hamilton and Bottas signed.
Two weeks ago, he was telling the media it was looking more likely, and that continues in the paddock at Hockenheim.
“It seems more and more that I stay. I get a better picture of what other teams are doing. I’m focusing on the race this weekend, but next week I’m going to look further into the contract,” Ricciardo told motorsport.
“It would be nice if this was arranged for the summer break. If it fails to draw it is also good because then I know what I want to do with myself.”
Bottas has had just one year added to his contract at Mercedes. This isn’t to say he will leave at the end of the 2019 season, but some suggested it’s something Ricciardo should keep an eye on. But the Monaco Grand Prix winner doesn’t seem too interested.
“I do not look at Bottas. There are changes in every team. We are going to see it because I have not signed a contract yet,” Ricciardo added.
