It doesn’t get any better for
Daniel Ricciardo does it? Eight retirements this season and no podium since Monaco, it hasn’t gone too well for the Renault bound driver.
The Australian seemed to be at his tipping point after retiring last time out from a good position in Mexico, even saying that he might hand the car over to Pierre Gasly for the last two races, but quickly backtracked on that.
And now he has been handed a five place penalty after having to change his turbocharger.
We had an inkling that Ricciardo would receive a penalty as he was at the end of the pitlane for FP1 especially early, indicating that he wanted to be the first driver to be hit with a penalty, potentially lowering the amount of places he would drop.
However, he is the only driver to have confirmed changes to his power unit since Mexico.
