Carlos Sainz has reaffirmed his commitment to
McLaren as he takes up the role of leading the team back to success.
Sainz, who teams up with Lando Norris in 2019 in an all-new line-up for
McLaren revealed the team have an obvious vision of where the team want to be.
The Madrid native finished tenth with Renault in 2018 but takes a spot at
McLaren after Alonso retired and the team released Stoffel Vandoorne.
"McLaren has a very clear plan.” Said Sainz at the Autosport International event.
“Hopefully, it will make McLaren back to what it was, a winning team. “But it’s a long-term plan.” Conceded the Spaniard.
"We can not overexcite.
"It has hired very important people, like James Key and Andreas Steidl.
“The team is making an effort."
Sainz signed a two-year deal at McLaren and wants to pay back some of their faith.
The former
Toro Rosso and
Renault driver plans on matching the team’s commitment by spending plenty of time in the UK.
"My idea is to be much more in the United Kingdom this year.
“I feel very committed to the cause, with this two-year plan that we have ahead of us.
“I will be in the United Kingdom from Monday to Thursday most weeks."
