Alexander Albon is under pressure at
Red Bull Racing and
Sergio Perez and
Nico Hulkenberg seem to be the best candidates for the second seat. According to
Ralf Schumacher, Hulkenberg is candidate number one for
Helmut Marko.
In recent years
Red Bull Racing has exclusively chosen its own talent. After succeeding with
Daniel Ricciardo,
Sebastian Vettel and
Max Verstappen, they also tried this with the other drivers. However,
Daniil Kvyat,
Pierre Gasly and
Alexander Albon have not impressed so much at the senior team and so Red Bull may now have to look elsewhere for a driver.
Hulkenberg the best option
''At Red Bull you could still make comparisons with Ricciardo and you should not forget the human aspect either. Max and Nico Hulkenberg get on well with each other. Personally, I believe that Nico is the number one candidate at Red Bull for several reasons. First of all, Red Bull does not need the money. Sergio Perez is also a good driver, but Nico came back very strong this year," says Schumacher to
Sky Sports.
''I don't have all the figures in front of me, but I know that Red Bull as a brand has always struggled on the German market. So that would mean that a friendly German driver by name, because Nico is very well known, would be a logical step for Red Bull," Schumacher explains.
