Max Verstappen officially starts the
Australian Grand Prix from pole position.
Carlos Sainz will start alongside the Dutchman, while
Guanyu Zhou will have to start from the pit lane with a new front wing. View the final starting grid for the

For a long time it did not look like Verstappen would conquer pole in Australia, but in Q3 the
Red Bull Racing driver was fastest again. Sainz surprised by being a fastest driver over one lap after his surgery in Melbourne. Sainz will start from the front row of the grid on Sunday.
There was less good news for
Sergio Perez. The Mexican qualified third but received a three-place grid penalty for obstructing
Nico Hulkenberg in qualifying. As a result, Perez will start from P6.
Lando Norris,
Charles Leclerc and
Oscar Piastri will benefit.
For Guanyu Zhou, it will be a tough race. The Chinese driver has to start from the pit lane because he damaged his front wing in qualifying and the team did not bring an extra new front wing. As Zhou no longer has the newest, but oldest specification of his front wing, Parc Fermé had to be broken and so he will start from the pits.
