Max Verstappen scored his sixth podium in a row at the
Belgian Grand Prix. The Dutchman is second in the championship, but according to
Jack Plooij and
Olav Mol has found resignation in the fact that he will not become world champion.
Red Bull Racing and Honda would have had the best summer and would compete for the title in 2020. Verstappen, however, was disappointed, as his team did not turn out to be ready at all. Mercedes is still the team to beat and so Verstappen had to accept that he will not be world champion this year either.
Verstappen converted the button
''After race one he must have been really disappointed. After race two it became clear to him that it wasn't going to be him this year and from race three that button was turned. I'm sure he must have discussed this with his father and from that moment on just put the focus on scoring as many points as possible'', says
Jack Plooij at
F1 aan Tafel.
"Reality'', Mol calls the conversion of that button, but according to the men a lot hasn't changed about Max.
''Max isn't busy with his image. Max is just Max. However, you can now see from Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon what kind of pressure those guys are under. Max really grew up like a bullet and he never cared'', concludes Plooij.
