Jean Todt believes that races in Argentina and Vietnam would be good for Formula One, despite making the calendar the busiest it has ever been.
Liberty Media are keen to grow the F1 calendar to as many as 25 races per season.
There has been a lot of speculation over a return to Buenos Aires and a street circuit in Ho Chi Minh.
Argentina has not been on the F1 calendar since 1998 and Vietnam has never hosted a Grand Prix.
Todt said: “We hear about some potential new race in Argentina, I would love to see a race in Argentina, as the country is very special in motorsport, with Fangio and Reutemann, they are heroes of motor racing in Argentina.
“In Latin America, Argentina is one of the best countries to host a Formula One race.”
Todt was also keen on a new race in the Far East. Malaysia hosted their last race in 2018.
Todt doesn’t seem worried that races in the Far East have failed before, such as the Korean GP and Indian GP, saying: “Vietnam, I would be happy to have a new race in Asia, it is a developing country and to bring Formula One to developing countries would be very good.
“If we can put it all together then why not?
“At the moment we have 21 races and for many years we’ve had 19 to 20 races, then again at the moment there is speculation (for more).
“For me, the good thing is not the speculation, it is that we have the French Grand Prix which is back, and we have the German Grand Prix which is back.
“The calendar looks very good.”
