Yuki Tsunoda has called on supporters to give him 'all the pressure they can' ahead of his Red Bull debut at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Liam Lawson, who was demoted by Red Bull after just two races, faced a great deal of pressure during his short time with the team, while Sergio Perez, Alex Albon and Pierre Gasly all ultimately failed to meet expectations alongside Max Verstappen.
Perez has expressed confidence in Tsunoda's abilities, stating that the Japanese driver has the right mentality, speed, and talent to handle the intense demands of driving for Red Bull.
But during a demonstration in Tokyo to celebrate the team's partnership with Honda - which finishes this year - Tsunoda shared his excitement to get underway with the parent team.
"Everyone supports me a lot and tries not to put pressure on me, which is very kind of them," he said.
"But honestly, make sure you have high expectations and give me all the pressure you can. I can't guarantee that I will meet those expectations, but I will definitely do my best."
Tsunoda has been impressive behind the wheel of the Racing Bulls car in the opening two races but has been hamstrung by poor strategy calls.
His result in China was worsened by a bizarre front wing failure, leaving him in 13th position with three points to his name. New teammate Verstappen is second, just eight points behind leader Lando Norris.
