The departing
McLaren driver
Stoffel Vandoorne is set to keep his motorsport career alive, as the Belgian looks likely to switch to
Formula E.
Vandoorne recently lost his McLaren seat to junior driver Lando Norris, who also took part in earlier's first practice session in place of Vandoorne.
However, Stoffel is eager to keep his racing career in tact, with a switch to Formula E looking pretty certain, in his bid to impress and get back into a Formula One team in the future.
"At this moment, there is nothing decided but in my head I know exactly what I would like to do," the McLaren driver told Belgian broadcaster RTBF in Russia. "I think we are getting closer to a decision. Formula E is a possibility, but we have received a lot of other offers from other categories as well."
IndyCar is believed to be the other possibility the Belgian is referring to, but there is a rumour that Vandoorne has agreed to race for the Mercedes' works team in Formula E already.
"Mercedes? It's you who said it rather than me," the Belgian joked. "But it is obviously a very, very good manufacturer that I don't need to tell you about."
