Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel has seen his championship rival Lewis Hamilton get away by another ten points as the German couldn't do better than P3 in Russia, meaning Hamilton leads him by 50 points now.
The four-time champion finished third for the second race in a row, after qualifying third for the second time in a row as well. Where Max Verstappen kept him to P3 in Singapore, it was Valtteri Bottas who did it in Sochi.
With just five races to go now, Vettel is very unlikely to catch Hamilton now, as the Brit's consistency usually doesn't allow for comebacks of this size.
With Ferrari playing second fiddle to Mercedes again in both championships, spirits aren't high at the Italian team, but Vettel still analyzed the race rationally before jumping to any conclusions.
"I think everybody had more or less the same pace," Vettel told Paul Di Resta, the trackside reporter.
"I tried my best to put pressure on Valtteri but I couldn't get close enough.
"It was a good race, I think we were closer today but obviously not the result that we want."
