Sebastian Vettel knows he must tighten up his mistakes going into the second half of the season. The German currently faces a 24 point gap between himself and rival Lewis Hamilton at the top of the championship. He insists Ferrari must keep the speed everywhere if he is going to go on and win the fight for the fifth World Title.
The Red car has been deemed the fastest, but the weather and mistakes have caused them to slip up. With upgrades coming in for the Belgium Grand Prix, Vettel believes his team have done a good job of progressing.
“As is customary after the break, we will have some developments on our car. The key from now on will be to keep the speed everywhere," Vettel told reporters.
“I think we did a good job so far in progressing as a team, and that’s why I’m confident for the rest of the season. There have been races in which we had the upper hand in terms of performance and we didn’t get as many points as we could have, but the same applies to our competitors."
To go alongside the upgrades, Vettel has had a relaxing summer break providing some rest and recovery. Not only on the physical side but also mentally. This should help prevent a repeat of his mistake in Germany which cost him the race.
“I spent my break relaxing with the family, swimming, running and biking. Now we’re back to work on a circuit that we like so much because it’s a drivers’ track, where you can make a difference,” added Vettel.
The season 'run in' is looking tasty!
