The Grand Prix weekend in Canada did not exactly get off to a flawless start. Due to problems with the CCTV, the drivers got only four minutes of action. This extended the second free practice session. Mind you, this does require you to be ready half an hour earlier to not miss anything from the session.

Four minutes were underway for the F1 drivers when Pierre Gasly stalled with his Alpine. A bad start for the French team, but the damage would not be too bad. Indeed, the rest of the teams did not return to action after that red flag either. A problem with the cameras on the track meant that F1 and FIA could not ensure the safety of people on and around the track. As a result, the session was not resumed at all.

Despite initial reports that there should be 2.5 hours between the first and second free practice sessions, F1 and the FIA decided to start the second free practice session half an hour earlier. Instead of 22:00 GMT, the second free practice session in Montreal will now start at 21:30 CET. The session will last 90 minutes, ending at 23:00.
