Debate | Was the Dutch Grand Prix the most entertaining race of the season?

The Dutch Grand Prix is behind us, and with the rain, we can look back on a race in which surprising things happened. But was this the most enjoyable race of this season so far? We are curious to hear your opinion.
The race got off to an unusual start, as it was still dry at the start, but after just one lap it rained hard. Several drivers decided to pit to change to intermediates. The starting positions had almost no influence, as the whole field was mixed up. Later, it started raining again, after which several drivers slid off the track. There was a red flag, and the race continued on a wet track even after that.

Other contenders

An example of another contender for the title of most enjoyable race so far is the Australian Grand Prix. The race was very chaotic, with no less than THREE red flags, one of which was caused by the restart after the second red flag. Spectacular it certainly was!
Another race that might be a contender is the British Grand Prix. At this Grand Prix, McLaren were suddenly surprisingly strong. The Woking-based team was still at the back of the field at the beginning of the year, but in the opening stages of the race, Lando Norris was even in the lead. Also, rookie Oscar Piastri only just grabbed a podium. Another spectacular race!

Not to sound too biased as a Dutchie, but yeah, Melbourne was great, Silverstone was greater, but aside from Red Bull and Max, this race had pretty much everything.

Also a testament to the design of the track and materials/techniques used, because the track dried up really well after such a deluge on lap 1 and at the end.
If this was done on the sim, you'd complain that it would be too unrealistic, 4 seasons, all tyre compounds and conditions in 1 race!

There were some people that weren't a fan of the banking in the corners, i liked them and Alonso and Piastri showed that you can take them in different ways and come out ahead of the other.
Which makes up for the other tighter parts where overtaking is more difficult, but it did not really feel like overtaking was an issue.
I mean, i literally have an open tab in my browser with the article: "Dutch GP sets record: Most overtakes ever in an F1 race.", although i have yet to read it, but a lot of that will probably be due to the many pitstops, but still!
(EDIT: I was wrong, it did have the most overtakes on track, due to the rain and drivers staying out and others regaining positions after pits etc.)

Luckily i was sitting dry on my couch, my sister was there actually, but yeah, despite the great show around it, it was still pretty wet to be standing there.
It was a great show though, it was fun to see Andre Rieu and his girls, dancing on the Techno.
And the national anthem sounded great both times, i don't even know who the singer was at the end, but rarely does it NOT make me cringe when some singer is doing their rendition of it, so props to whoever she was and Rieu and the Band.

And yeah, the results were great.
Max 9 wins in a row, Red Bull 13 wins.
And it was nice to see an ecstatic Gasly, plus those cups looked like fun trophies, they all seemed very happy with them, giant egg cups, haha.
But at least it stands out among the trophies.

All in all a great weekend, with luckily not too serious incidents, although bad luck for Danny, but yeah... it was honestly a really dumb drive of him, to break his hand is just the cherry on top, good news for Lawson, who drove a fine race, ironically ending ahead of Yuki that gave it his all.

Cannot argue with any of this. Strategy and I suppose a little luck played hugely in the results. That makes it super exciting. Also, Cactus I am impressed by you and the English taught in Holland and the Scandinavian Countries. Much better than most citizens with English as a first language, especially the USA. But fortunately, we are number one in Gender and Ethnic studies which is apparently more important than Math, English, the Science's, Business and Engineering studies. I hope your country keeps it up. We are losing the battle for forward movement in the USA.

Hah, thanks :)

Yeah, we're still doing pretty well, although it does feel like we're going the "American way" more and more over time with our education system and healthcare.
I hope our version of the Cons will be voted out for once, and i certainly hope it won't be the "rainbow people" taking over.

I do follow American politics a lot (love watching Real Time with Bill Maher, before the strike happened), and hope to see an RFK, maybe even Cornel West, a change without the gender dysfunctions.
Vivek and DeSantis still come off as fakes and conmen, but if all else fails, i'd consider a vote for them, if they'd make it that far.
But anything other than ZomBiden or Tramp, or any establishment right now.
And in hindsight, i am kinda glad that Hillary also lost, the world survived Donald, i'm not so sure how things would've ended up with Hillary.
I hoped it would be Bernie in '16 and '20, but in my opinion, the DNC sabotaged him twice, once with Hillary (and BLM sure wasn't helping him either by disupting his rallies), and the second time with Biden and using the "flu" to shame Bernie for staying in the primary race and putting voters "at risk" for standing in line at the voting booth.. even though Bernie was winning that time, Biden should've pulled out, but no, the DNC pulled the other candidates and have them endorse Biden...
Speaking of Bill Maher though, i disagree a lot with his core politics, as he's still an establishment fanboy in the end, i specifically hated how he had Bernie on his show in 2016 to get him to endorse Hillary.
But yeah, nobody's perfect, but i hope that together with his podcast getting lots of views while his big show is off TV for the moment, he can finally "get" the outsider mentality and starts rooting for the real people.
Then again, we're talking about politicians, but even though i am not religious at all, but few people are as real as Cornel West, and RFK seems pretty genuine as well with a lot of his statements.

Aaaaanyway... haha, switching back, to prevent having a heated discussion about politics and whatnot here.
We are either 1st, or 2nd currently as best non-native English speakers, it's always a close battle with Sweden.
But when i look around me, i am not very convinced.. haha, a lot of them still have a really thick Dutch accent, and have trouble finding the right words.
But maybe i should look around more, as there are also a lot of people with a good grip on it.
And i guess, countries like Germany and France, they're kinda handicapped by their language, because it controls their vocal/mouth muscles way more than Dutch does in general.
USA and UK, they're just lazy and complacent, haha, but i can't blame them.

Ironically though, i am a supporter of speaking English in general, but i kinda hate what the general public does with it.
For a long time, and still ongoing, i usually hear the 'soundbites' and catchphrases repeated everywhere.
I mean, it's not easy to choose which words to translate or not, but i would prefer to go for words with a bit more substance (and usually i go for the English word when i cannot remember the actual Dutch word for it, downside of typing in English so often every day), instead of the "oh my god" and "hey girl, where are you?", saying "bro", "money" and i don't know what else.
It's just my general disdain for the general public, haha, but there is some overlap with this specific topic.

But yeah... i really hope people will go back to sanity very soon.
I keep expecting people to be done with "Reality TV" and the Lardassians any day, but it's been 20 years now.
As a kid in the 90s, internet was new, technology was the future.
Now i am in the future, when's the 90s calling??
These retro throwbacks are empty gestures, i kinda feel for the kids today, they can't really cultivate a culture anymore, everything is right here and right now, and basically everything has been done by now.
My personal theory is that the "altos" from the 90s, the kids that fitted into no group and listened to Limp Bizkit, Korn and stuff like that, that misfit mentality transformed into the transformers we have today.
Cutting yourself has become getting plastic surgery, but the mental issues remain inside..

Anyway...
Here's hoping for a better future :)
