The Dutch Grand Prix is over. Which teams performed best, and which teams could not handle the pressure of the changing conditions? These are the ratings for the constructors for the race in Zandvoort.
Max Verstappen's team were very strong again this weekend. Bringing Sergio Perez in early during the rain moved him into the lead of the race. As a result, Red Bull were in a 1-2 position for a long time. The speed was good, but things went wrong during a pit stop by Perez, causing the Mexican to lose a lot of time. All in all, Red Bull earned an 8.5 in Zandvoort.
Mercedes didn't manage the rain well. Lewis Hamilton didn't get the perfect run plan in qualifying, and in the race, the Mercedes drivers stopped too late in the rain, losing a lot of ground. He was also the only driver to start on the medium tyre, making the incoming rain even harder to manage. According to Toto Wolff, the speed was on the same level as that of Verstappen, but it was impossible to even get close to the Dutchman. Hamilton recovered somewhat, given their speed, but Russell's recovery was ruined due to a puncture. It seems harsh, given Hamilton did score eight points from P13. But it should've been so much better.
Aston Martin has put themselves back on the map in Zandvoort. The team's speed has been disappointing in recent race weekends compared to the start of the season, but in the Netherlands, the British team seemed to be back. Strategically, Aston Martin managed the rain well. Lance Stroll, however, was disappointing.
It was not a great weekend for Ferrari. After a slow stop for Charles Leclerc and the lack of speed from both cars, this was a weekend to forget. Later in the race, Leclerc retired after he had a broken floor. Carlos Sainz's fifth place saved the grade somewhat, but the Scuderia don't score higher than a 5.
What looked like a promising race for the Woking team turned into a drama. Lando Norris lost a lot of positions in the early laps after stopping too late. The McLaren driver also didn't really have the speed to get to the front again. The team also did not have a great time with Piastri, who scored points. There could have been a lot more for the team from Woking, so they got a 4.5
It was a special weekend for Alpine. The race pace was high, and with a good strategy, Pierre Gasly drove to a podium place despite a time penalty. Esteban Ocon finished tenth.
The Williams car was incredibly fast this weekend. They were unlucky in the race, with a retirement for Logan Sargeant and the weather conditions, but the team made good use of their speed this weekend. The weekend was not perfect because Alexander Albon stayed out on the slicks in rainy conditions and lost a lot of places. Though he proved, their degradation is impressive. The speed was there, so Williams got a 9.
It was a pretty normal weekend for Haas. Nothing special. The American team were fast earlier this season in the rainy conditions, but it didn't work out in Zandvoort.
This figure would have looked very different if the score had been counted after the fifth lap. In terms of strategy, Guanyu Zhou's car was particularly good in the first laps, but in terms of speed, the Alfa Romeo was very disappointing. They, therefore, receive a 4.0.
It was the race in which Liam Lawson made his Formula 1 debut, finishing ahead of his team-mate, Yuki Tsunoda. There could have been more to the Japanese driver's race, but due to a long stint, he was overtaken by many drivers. The speed wasn't bad, so AlphaTauri deserves a 6 this weekend.
