Ferrari development driver
Pascal Wehrlein could boost his CV in 2019 - with the driver set to compete in Le Mans 24 Hours and IndyCar.
Wehrlein was released from his contract at
Mercedes at the end of 2018, after coming through the ranks at the German manufacturer.
The 24-year-old was subsequently signed by Mahindra for one season, to compete in Formula E, but the German has since been recruited by Scuderia to handle simulator work for the Italians.
It seems
Ferrari have been impressed by the former
Sauber and Manor driver, and they could add him to Ferrari's GTE line-up for next summer's endurance race at Le Mans.
"I could start in two more racing series," Wehrlein explained to Formula One's official podcast: Beyond the Grid.
Ferrari haven't yet confirmed Wehrlein as their simulation driver, and when questioned on it, the German couldn't offer the listeners any more insight on his current contract at Maranello.
"It's true that we're talking about it at the moment, and that it can happen," Wehrlein said.
Wehrlein missed the opening weekend of Formula E in Saudi Arabia, because Mercedes had not yet officially released him from his contract - but he did take part in round 2 - albeit very briefly; with the German retiring seven laps in.
