Wolff compares contract situation with football: ''Different from Jurgen Klopp''

The future of Toto Wolff at Mercedes is still uncertain. Like the ones at Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, Wolff's contract expires at the end of 2020. Wolff explains why there is no hurry.

Speculation around Wolff has increased in recent years. The team boss of Mercedes could become a top man for the FIA or for Liberty Media and this season rumours surfaced that he could be appointed top man of Aston Martin.

Where a football club like Liverpool doesn't think long about capturing success coach Jurgen Klopp, according to Wolff this is a bit different in Formula 1. ''I don't think Daimler doubts me, but the contracts are very complex since I also have shares in the team. This is more than just an employment contract as with Jurgen'', replies Wolff to the question of Auto, Motor und Sport.

For example, the Austrian reveals that there are still shares of Niki Lauda. ''There is still the question what to do with those shares. Those conversations have been going on for a long time, but it's going in the right direction now. One thing is for sure, before the end of the year we will have clarity on all these matters'', concludes Wolff.
