With
Stoffel Vandoorne's struggles never ending, the rumour mill started turning suggesting that he would be forced out after the summer break. In the Hungarian paddock, it didn't take long for
Zak Brown to shoot the rumours down.
He told Het Laatste Nieuws that it was "highly unlikely" he would oust Vandoorne before his home race. The Belgian retired from the race yesterday due to a mechanical failure.
"We would like to see him [Vandoorne] beat his teammate. But all the drivers Fernando has competed against have been beaten by him. So there's nothing to be ashamed of," Brown added.
In terms of qualifying, Alonso isn't just beating his team-mate, he's thrashing him. In every race this season, the Spaniard has out-qualified Vandoorne. Brown went on to confirm
McLaren aren't disappointed in Vandoorne and more focused on themselves.
"I would not say we are disappointed with Stoffel because we know that we are in a very difficult situation and this year we do not have a good car," said Brown.
