In the
Formula 1 season,
Max Verstappen reaches a special milestone: he appears at the start of his 200th Grand Prix. What makes this milestone extra special is the location: the
Red Bull Racing driver will in fact drive his 200th
F1 race in his home race at Circuit
Zandvoort.
Verstappen drives 200th F1 race at Zandvoort
At the Dutch GP in 2024, Verstappen would appear at the start of an F1 race for the 200th time. If he also manages to win the Grand Prix at
Zandvoort, he will follow the footsteps of none other than seven-time world champion
Michael Schumacher.
Schumacher is the only driver to win his 200th race in his home country. He did so at the 2004 European Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. The 2004 F1 season also marked the last world title in the dominant run Schumacher enjoyed with
Ferrari.
Other drivers who managed to win their 200th race - albeit not in their home country - include
Lewis Hamilton (Belgium 2017),
Nico Rosberg (Singapore 2016) and
Jenson Button (Hungary 2011). So if Verstappen wins his home race this year, and doesn't miss a single race beforehand this season, he will join this illustrious list.
