Yep, if they cut Checo m pretty sure Mercedes (if hamilton retires after this season and they want somebody strong alongside Russell), Ferrari (If sainz keeps not delivering) or even his old ex-toxic-gf McLaren (to replace old and slow danny ric) would try to snatch him.31-05-2022 19:08

If they were balanced the championship would be verstappen vs perez not le clerc vs verstappen. The balance is right, Perez is strong but as of the moment not champion material. Personally i think that in Baku we will see it, Perez usually does well in Baku, if he wins pole and race then he will be in contention if he fails, then is again being the strong number 2 driver.31-05-2022 19:02

The important thing to know here, is that Perez wasn't given enough info on pourpose to counter verstappen 3-stop, Horner says because on paper it looked like verstappen wouldn't be able to make, due to the tyre deg on the softs were high (which imho were basically hards-mediums since they were using the C3 compound which usually is either the hard or the medium on any other circuit), thats what people are upset that this wasn't "fair fight on track", RB is on his right to do so, since max has been the guy for years and he needed that win to be ahead of charles. If i were checo, he should ask for a new race engineer, the current one is looking on ways to help max, not on ways to go faster, something similar happen to Bono and Hamilton, hamilton pretty much on the air correct bono on what matters (not george time but the leader time).24-05-2022 16:01

In 2021 mercedes had the most powerful engine on the grid, arguably one of TOP 3 drivers in the grid and even won the constructor championship... yet they fail to win the driver championship because they were afraid that their powerful car with the spicy engine "will lost track position" which couldn't regain on track. Essentially they were afraid that Perez or Max could hold up that monster car in behind or there was going another move like the first lap, were Hamilton was allowed to cut the chicane. Anyway mercedes were afraid of max and that what was needed for them to lose the driver championship. Merecedes as of 22 can't still grasp what happened and blame others for their lack of courage and hamilton knows it, it was his last chance, now he should start thinking in retiring.18-05-2022 15:38

The question is whatever the Russell input will help develop the car, one of the main reason hamilton domination besides mercedes being a powerhouse is that he and nico help develop that car from zero. Russell reaches the former constructor champion and it's riding better than Hamilton the car but could he push the team to improve? thats the question... so far hamilton it the one asking for improving the car, russell is happy fighthing for p5 and waiting for the scraps which shows that Russell may not be champion-materia, he has great talent but for championships you need to be able to push the team. Max couldn't do it alone until Checo arrives, because checo unlike Danny Ric, Gasly and Albon he helps to develop the car, talks to newey, doesn't complain as much as gasly that the car isn't fast but try improve the car from the setup.11-05-2022 16:48
