Watching the restart, I kept thinking, "Hey, Lewis is trying to draw Max into a penalty, and win that way". He knew Max was on fresh soft tyres, and in a real racing lap, he'd lose the lead.

I think the folks complaining about 'Lewis haters' are missing the point. Lewis is extremely talented and very quick. So is Russell. Merc wants championships, and really doesn't care WHO delivers them. Merc clearly has a dominant car, and while Lewis may be the best driver on the grid right now, they probably don't need him to keep winning championships. I am guessing that's how Daimler is looking at it.

One of the reasons manufacturers were interested in participating in F1 was that the technology developed there would transfer to their road cars. IMO, that was the biggest reason for the hybrid F1 era - to give the big carmakers a high tech test bed for hybrid vehicles. Unfortunately, most automakers are skipping over hybrid, and moving straight to fully electric vehicles. That's what's driving their interest in Formula E. Formula E is going to stay, well, less exciting until battery technology evolves to the point where the cars will have enough available energy on board to go faster, longer. Red Bull doesn't make cars, so they really don't care about any of that.

Considering the fact that the principals of Liberty Media are big Trump supporters, I wouldn't expect much from them.

How is this going to make anything more exciting? If anything, this will make the racing LESS exciting as teams are forced to be even MORE conservative. We're already watching drivers baby a power unit that has to last another half dozen races, or use sub-optimal tires because of an arbitrary rule. Is this more exciting than Juan Pablo Montoya vaulting the pit wall to get to the T Car in time to make the start? I don't think so. I believe in caution for safety's sake - not these ridiculous rules. Has it brought more teams into the sport? Not really. Has it made the racing more exciting? No. Has it prevented single team domination? Not in the slightest.
