Lewis Hamilton was lucky in the second half of the second free practice session in Belgium. The Briton suddenly lost his car at full speed in the middle of Raidillon, but the seven-time world champion was able to breathe a sigh of relief shortly afterwards.

The drivers had to deal with increasing rainfall on the track during practice, which made it more dangerous. Hamilton, too, soon realised he needed to be careful, but he was unaware that he would lose grip in one of the most dangerous spots on the track.

Going uphill Hamilton suddenly found himself losing grip on the turn-in. The driver then did everything he could to avoid a major accident, which he managed to do in the nick of time. He was able to get his car back on track.

Hamilton just short of top five

Whereas he managed to finish ahead of his teammate George Russell, Hamilton had to settle for sixth. Earlier in the day, Hamilton set a ninth best time in the first free practice session and Russell took fourth.
