Makers of ReDubbed: 'Max Verstappen is from Manchester'
- GPblog.com
While the drivers enjoy their holidays during the winter break, Formula 1 fans spend their time watching race recaps, scrolling through all social media, and checking each day's calendar to see how many days are left until the Bahrain Grand Prix. Another interesting thing to watch during this time is the series ReDubbed on Red Bull's YouTube account.
On ReDubbed, creators Tim and Gendle amusingly 'dub' individuals shown in video footage of Red Bull, during race weekends. Netherlands' favourite, Max Verstappen, also appears in it regularly.
In their latest video, the two explain how they actually do this, and also what their idea was behind Max's voice, which is dubbed by Gendle. Tim: “The first go he had was the voice that he’s done for the whole series, and I laughed for about nine minutes. So from that moment on, Max just had to be from Manchester.”
Manchester accent does work
It seems odd that the Limburger is portrayed with a Northern English accent, but it works. “I just imagine Max as a bit of a Gallagher brother, a Manchester guy. I can’t even do a Manchester accent very well,” said a smiling Gendle.
Perez, Horner, and other team members are also part of the series, and with them, too, the makers explain their motivations behind the dubbed voices.
If anyone is still trying to find something fun to spend their time on during winter break: the series ReDubbed, and the making of, are highly recommended.
