Mercedes have attempted to explain why Hamilton stayed out on track when he had the chance to pit during the safety car. The Brit drove across the track in a last minute decision to stay out. He was called to the stewards' office to discuss the incident but got away without a penalty. The FIA took into account the communication problem and acknowledged this allowing Hamilton to escape without penalty.
