After a complaint was lodged with the FIA by Renault, the Haas car of
Romain Grosjean was found "not to be in compliance" with technical regulations and has been disqualified from the Italian Grand Prix. The issue is related to the leading edge of the floor of the Haas VF-18.
According to FIA rules and regulations, Grosjean has been excluded from the Italian Grand Prix having finished in sixth position, a result which had put Haas level with Renault in fourth in the constructor standings.
In a document released on the subject, the FIA clarified that the 8 car of Grosjean fell foul of techincal regulations.
“The stewards of the meeting have requested, that the technical delegate inspects the floor of car number 08, driver Romain Grosjean, for compliance with Article 3.7.1 d) of the 2018 Formula One Technical Regulations in relation to clarification given in TD/033-18 published on 25 July 2018,” the statement from the stewards reads.
“The reference plane of car number 08 is found not to be in compliance with Article 3.7.1 d) and the clarifications given in TD/033-18 published on 25 July 2018.”
The disqualification means that Haas drop back down to fifth in the constructor standings having drawn level with Renault in the table. Williams inherit a double points finish with both drivers scoring, Sergey Sirotkin the first of his F1 career in tenth place.
Haas has one hour to appeal the decision from the moment it was made official but have not done so yet.
