Lando Norris and
McLaren have announced on Wednesday that the Brit has extended his contract. The Brit's contract expired at the end of 2021, but the Woking-based team has decided to continue with Norris and
Daniel Ricciardo as drivers beyond 2021.
Norris stays with McLaren
Lando Norris made his
Formula 1 debut for
McLaren in 2019 and immediately made a good impression together with
Carlos Sainz. The duo pulled McLaren out of the hole, and moved up to third place among the constructors. Sainz left for
Ferrari at the end of 2020, but Norris stayed.
The Brit has been part of McLaren for some time, which picked him up as a talent and guided him to
Formula 1. Zak Brown was certainly closely involved in the development of the young Briton. Norris will therefore stay with McLaren at least until 2022, although there is talk of a multi-year deal. Ricciardo signed a three-year deal with McLaren, so the British team's line-up is set for years to come.
Norris has secured two podiums during his time at McLaren and is on fine form during the 2021 season.
