The battle for fourth place is heating up. It's almost as intense as the battle between Mercedes and Ferrari...almost!
In all seriousness, the fight to be 'best of the best' is exciting. Renault currently have the lead, but only by 19 points. McLaren seemed to be their closest rivals in the first part of the season, but have since dropped back. It's Haas which have got their act together right now.
Even Force India have made gains as they look to make a challenge. It's the Silverstone based team who have held fourth place for two consecutive seasons.
On paper, Haas have the better car. The Ferrari engine is giving them a power boost that no one in the midfield can match. For the first time, they made it work in Austria. They should have made it work in Silverstone if it wasn't for their usual story.
If Renault beat Haas, Romain Grosjean will be the sole reason why.
The chances that McLaren will turn it around are slim. They're back peddling at a rate of knots, and the reshuffle doesn't seem to have changed much.
Renault will need to improve. And they have the resources to do so. If they do so before Haas gain any sort of momentum then they should be fine.
As stated, the key driver in this battle is Romain Grosjean. If he performs and brings the results the American car is capable of, then Haas will clinch it. If not, it's Renault's title.
