The Miami racetrack is currently completely underwater. The southern part of the state of Florida is experiencing flooding that has also affected the racetrack. Retrieved from Reddit, a picture has appeared of the current state of the circuit.

Miami and the rest of southern Florida have been experiencing heavy rainfall for three days. As a result, streets have been completely flooded. Local news sources report that motorists in the city are stuck as roads are impassable. Local authorities are busy clearing away the water, which seems to be at a standstill mainly because the city's drainage system cannot handle the pressure. So the flooding has also spread to the part of the city where the Grand Prix is being held.

Flooding potentially damages circuit

Formula One will arrive in Miami in three weeks for the Grand Prix, and the flooding will likely be fixed by then. The bigger issue is whether the flooding will damage the circuit. Both the track itself and the various structures around it will be affected by the heavy rain.

The Miami Grand Prix was held for the first time last year at the brand-new circuit. Several drivers then already had problems with the lack of grip on the newly constructed asphalt. Fernando Alonso and Daniel Ricciardo, among others, warned that the circuit needed to be improved for the next edition.
