During the summer break, F1 driver Guanyu Zhou's management was already in talks with Alfa Romeo about extending his contract, but nothing has come out yet. The driver himself now says it is as good as done and says money is not an issue.

Where one F1 driver talks about how much money he will earn, another driver has to negotiate how much money he will bring with him. Zhou's contract negotiations have been delayed, but according to the driver, there are no financial problems. The Chinese is positive about the future and says negotiations are almost over.

'Contract negotiations Zhou almost over'

CGTN Europe quotes Zhou: "I don't know where I'll be in two years but right now I'm very happy. Next year my aim is to stay here, me and the team know each other much better after working together for two years." As the only Chinese driver in F1, Zhou is sponsoring Alfa Romeo. With Zhou's appointment, Alfa Romeo (the team will be called Sauber again next year) gets a lot of sponsorship money.

Zhou dismisses the suggestion that negotiations on his contract are taking a long time because of money problems, saying it is not true: "I don't think there are money issues. People always like to create rumours around me and money. I know what's going on in the background, maybe (the talks) have been a little bit delayed but it's all about the final details now, everything is always a bit more complicated than the first contract."
