Red Bull Racing chief and former F1 race winner David Coulthard is lyrical about Verstappen and thinks the Dutchman is unbeatable as a teammate. If you want to give the Dutchman a hard time, you don't have to be in the same car and your car has to be a lot faster.
So argues the Scot in the podcast Formula For Success opposite Eddie Jordan. His argument shows that as long as Red Bull has the strongest car, no one else has a chance of winning the F1 title but Verstappen. According to Coulthard, Sergio Pérez's attempt to go for the title in 2023 is therefore doomed to fail.
Verstappen only beatable in faster car
Coulthard: "Any of those guys, who'll get their hands on a racewinning car have a chance to challenge Max. Challenging Max in the same team is going to take a mighty, superhuman effort. He is a machine. He is made to be on the track. He is assertive, strong willed and more than capable." Jordan replied, "He is light years ahead of the others."
By 'those guys who have a chance 'to challenge Max', Coulthard designates the batch of twentysomethings now performing well in F1 and some veterans. Coulthard: "Your Landos [Norris] and Georges [Russell]. Your Charles [Leclerc] and Maxes. And then at the other end, of course, you have got Fernando [Alonso] and Lewis [Hamilton] as the elders. We have a generation of drivers in their mid-twenties that for the next decade are trying to fight it out."
That’s indeed the situation. Other teams must develop a car that is faster to stand a chance because Max is not the type of guy that drops the ball anytime soon. Max invented consistency on the top level. Guys like Coulthard look at Max’s lap times in a full race and think how the hell does he do that? Nobody runs like Max…. In F1 consistency is King and that’s the reason nobody can touch him.
If you don't like Max, you'll really be upset when you watch him drive.
Coulthard is on RB payroll, I think his job title is brand ambassador. Lol

Well "challenge " means to be competitive with, and also to beat from time to time! Otherwise the term would be "lose to"!!
Nobody mentioned "challenging"! I gave you the definition of "to challenge "! There is a difference! Do some homework! Your argument is empty. It takes a real man to admit when they are wrong. I'm done!
Your predication is that the competitor should have the ability to compete with or beat the other. That is not the definition of challenging.

Definition of "to challenge". "a call to someone to participate in a competitive situation or fight to decide who is superior in terms of ability or strength."
To challenge means to attempt to be as competitive. It doesn't mean you are as competitive
Actually Coulthard's statement is not that accurate either, as Mercedes had the faster car in 2021, but Max still won the championship! A quicker car but a less talented driver in it, still wont be able to beat Max..... proven fact!
