Does 'aggressive' Hamilton show change at Mercedes? This is not right
Jacques Villeneuve has expressed his surprise at Lewis Hamilton's outburst. In his column for Formula1.com, he says this incident shows that within Mercedes things are tilting more and more in the direction of George Russell.
At the Dutch Grand Prix, Hamilton felt disadvantaged by Mercedes. The Briton was kept out on medium tyres while competitors, including his team-mate, switched to the soft tyres during the safety car. It made Hamilton a target at the restart and he was not happy about that.
Irritated Hamilton
While it may have been a mistake by Mercedes, Villeneuve said Hamilton's reaction was inappropriate. The 1997 world champion was astonished by Hamilton's reaction. "He was aggressive, almost insulting. This does not suit a champion. After everything the team has done for him you shouldn't speak to them like that.
Hamilton can also look in the mirror according to Villeneuve. Russell did take control and called on his team to change tyres. Hamilton with all his world titles and experience could have done that too. That it was Russell who first raised the alarm also shows that he is increasingly taking on the role of leader of the team.
For Mercedes, the result in Zandvoort was ultimately a major setback. A better result seemed possible than the final second and fourth place of respectively Russell and Hamilton. Nevertheless, the gap to Ferrari has been reduced again, but in Italy, it will have to be seen if Mercedes can be as competitive on every circuit.
What has happened to the OG chad Formula 1 fans of yesteryears? Everyone just shouts on top of their lungs the same thing over and over again. I miss some old F1 forums when I was a newbie to F1. Knowledgeable people were super nice and used to explain things. There was intense rivalry between Shumi/Mika, Schumi/Kimi, Kimi/ Alonso/ Schumi fans but no one was suffered from crippling inferiority complex against total strangers. It used to be embarrassing if your stupid comment/ ignorant rant did not have a reply. Now it's considered being one-up on the other party. Most of the folks here are not open for discussion and further their understanding of the sport. PS: You might see this comment in other stories as well.
I commented on this this subject two days ago and got quite a lot of criticism "Have we just witnessed a 'changing of the guard' at Mercedes? There was a time when it wouldn't have mattered what his teammate called for, the whole team strategy at Mercedes would have been, "what maximises Hamilton's result". Am I over thinking this or have we just witnessed the rise of the wunderkind?" Still think I'm right.
Russell's racing IQ is clearly higher than that of Hamilton, which will show more in the coming 2 years.
Lewis has been in a privileged position his whole career! Always had the best equipment and teams ! Meh, toto hoped Lewis could keep the lead. Because they knew Max was faster. Russel took the risk himself to switch to reds.

Oh god the hypocrisy. Ofc there are outbursts like this. Drivers get emotional. The thing that amuses me is how 44 fans quickly find excuses for him when he does outburst, but when Max does it the hate is real

How am I the hypocrite? I'm fine with 44 going mad on radio just as I'm fine with Max doing it. Is it wrong? Yes, totally, but drivers will do it. It's normal to get emotional during the race. Ofc, there is still a difference between what Max says and what Lewis says. Max swears at the team and always uses "we", unlike 44. But hey, it is what it is.

Realiability it s part of the game! Just look at the Ferrrari s!

Ignore him mate. I see it the same as you. Every driver can have outbursts. Most of them we don't even hear and in every case it is understandable as it happend in the heat of the moment. When something doesn't work they it should for sure you get angry. I mean these drivers are extremely ambitious though you want to achieve the best possible outcome. Alonso's outburst at Spa was completely understandable as was Lewis' at Zandvoort and Max in the Quali at Hungary. I mean we all would be extremely pissed in such a situation.
Its disgraceful from Lewis...simple as that. Since silverstone 21, he has just lost it. His motto in life seems win at any cost....he has caused 2 huge 40g + accidents and almost caused another 1 with russell...what a stupid move to block your own team-mate at 300+ k...if they touched, russell would fly like webber in valencia......disgraceful from lewis....
No they never do. The unseen bias by the British media is so blatant at this point it's frustrating to listen cause i know if lewis closes the door on the outside it's oh fair play. If someone else does it it's over aggressive.

Was watching Sky f1, and they barely spoke about it. Im sure Russell had a word with Toto....that was a very very dangerous move.
No completely disagree. His moto in life is to best the best driver and role model on and off the field that F1 has ever had. He has achieved both without a doubt. GB is proud of our best ever sportsman. What are you proud of?.
As a GB man myself, its a disgrace. and we dont whine and cry to get what we want! that is very much unlike GB culture...thats toxic mercedes culture. and the abuse hurled on radio was another disgraceful show from lewis.
Can't ever remember Michael Schumacher having a go at his team in public.
Radio wasn't public back then. Still, my point is that even tho Max is sometimes angry on the radio he never insults the team. Schumacher was very emotional aswell (even trying to beat Coulthard in '98), but yeah, he never insulted the team in public like 44 does.
The only time he hurled abuses was direct face to face to our very own Couthard and rightly so. He destroyed his championship by slowing on the RACING LINE in spa while he was spraying it in the rain!!! That gave Hakkinen the title. Else MS would have 8 titles......9 if Ferrari brake didnt fail........
