FIA hands out: Driver starts in pit lane and gets 10-second penalty

The FIA has penalised Formula One driver Logan Sargeant ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix. The American driver slid off in his Williams, forcing the car to undergo heavy repairs. Williams broke the parc fermé rules in the process and the FIA's punishments cannot be called lenient.

Sargeant to suffer after crash in qualifying

Sargeant has to start the race at Suzuka from the pit lane, but that is not the only thing the Williams driver has to endure. He also gets a 10-second penalty, which he is going to serve during his first pit stop of the race.

"It's going to be a battle, but Logan will give it everything today," the team responded on X, formerly Twitter. The mechanics were repairing Sargeant's car not long before the race. Watch the stewards' decision below:
