After a scintillating first half of the season at AlphaTauri, in which he was largely on his own, Pierre Gasly may now be looking at a return to flagship Red Bull Racing. In an interview with Autosport the Frenchman says the decision is not in his hands, but that he expects to hear the decision soon.
The one-time Grand Prix winner says he wants to "see what happens" regarding a possible return as Max Verstappen's teammate. "I think it's pretty clear on my end, it's in Red Bull's hands."
The Frenchman continued: "Max is signed for next year in the top team, Sergio I think has a one-year contract, so we'll see what happens there and then what we do going forward together."
Gasly also believes that a definitive answer will not have to wait long, at the latest after the summer break. "I'm obviously contracted with them for some more time, and I'm pretty confident we should get some answers at some point during the summer break, or after the summer break", the driver said.
Ain't gonna happen while Marko is there. In any case I don't understand his masochism either, he's got the talent to go to any other team; yeah he wants to prove something with RBR but he can do it somewhere else too and find a way to another top team; he's only 25.
I would like Grojean to stay where he is and Albon join him. This is IndyCars time to shine and ease in allocades and sponsors. We could and should have a huge resurgence of IndyCar if we do it right! More double headers and triple or quadruple headers! IMS could host F1 on the same weekend! Now THAT would be the ticket to have!
WHY? They've gotten worse. The organization is Max-focused. Why would you want to relive that nightmare?
Can understand wanting to be in a top team, but not one with such a toxic management who expect drivers to be used to the car before they've driven it! Lol
