Lewis Hamilton sees much more potential at Mercedes than what he and the team have achieved so far. Speaking to Formula1.com the seven-time world champion indicated that he wants to stay with Mercedes for a long time to come.
Hamilton is now in his tenth season with Mercedes, and there is no denying that it has been a particularly successful partnership. Hamilton won the drivers' title six times and Mercedes took eight constructors' wins. This year, the team is failing somewhat, although they are still invariably at the forefront. It may not be the season Hamilton was hoping for but for him it is not a sign to quit. Indeed, he is taking a long-term view.
"In terms of my physical wellbeing, I feel the best I’ve physically ever been because I’ve been really focused on that as you get older," Hamilton said. "I’m generally loving driving so I’m working on a plan. I can’t tell you what that is just yet, but there is no limit to what we can do. I get to be myself at this team, and it’s a huge brand that can have a huge influence on the world. The support from Mercedes has been incredible since day one."
What the long term looks like for Hamilton is still unclear. He still has a contract for next year but nothing is fixed after that. In recent years, Hamilton has also broadened his focus. For instance, he is co-owner of the Denver Broncos and founded his own film company called Dawn Apollo. Through this company, he will be working on a film starring Brad Pitt in the near future.
