Sergio Perez's father believes the former Formula 1 driver was "betrayed" by one of his former teams.
The Mexican left the F1 grid at the end of last season after being dropped by Red Bull having struggled to match teammate Max Verstappen in the two terms previous.
But before his move to Red Bull for the 2021 season, Perez spent seven seasons with the former Force India/Racing Point outfits, now known as Aston Martin. Force India was on the brink of going bankrupt when Lawrence Stroll stepped in to save the team and rebadge the squad as Racing Point, before bringing the luxury British manufacturer on board.
But Antonio Perez has taken aim at the Silverstone-based outfit, telling the Spanish-language Formula de Dos podcast: "Checo actually saved the team.
"I remember that Checo was able to save the team when they were going bankrupt. Yet they repaid him with betrayal."
Perez Sr did, however, note the opportunities given to his son, including a first grand prix victory at the 2020 Sakhir GP.
On the transition from then-Racing Point to Red Bull ahead of the 2021 season, Perez Sr said: "I think it was a mutual agreement.
"There was a contract, but I don't think anyone would benefit from a lawsuit. It's good that they parted ways in this manner."
