Horner lashes out at Wolff again: ‘Toto felt the need to point that out’
Max Verstappen will head into the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix as the championship leader on behalf of Red Bull Racing, but Mercedes are seen as the favourites to take the win. Christian Horner remains convinced that things are looking bright for his team, especially given last year's surprise win in Abu Dhabi.
On paper, the brand new Jeddah Corniche Circuit is Mercedes' dream track, but it would not be the first time this year that expectations are not fulfilled if Red Bull win. In addition, Horner sees opportunities in Abu Dhabi, where Verstappen scored a surprise victory in 2020.
The Red Bull team boss spoke to Motorsportweek.com of his expectations for the next two races: "The next circuit should be in Mercedes' favour. But Abu Dhabi, with the changes modifications made there, who knows?"
Horner happy with new FIA tests
Red Bull threatened to protest against Mercedes' rear wing in Qatar after it allegedly bent excessively. In response, the FIA introduced stricter tests for the component, which were introduced from Saudi Arabia.
Horner complimented the FIA for the decision. "This should eliminate any possibility of circumventing the regulations and associated technical guidelines," he explained.
Wolff wants to shift attention to Red Bull
Partly due to Mercedes' controversial rear wing, there has been a lot of talk recently around the top speed of Lewis Hamilton in particular. Toto Wolff, meanwhile, sought to shift the focus to his rivals by raising the issue of Red Bull's top speed in Qatar. Hamilton was also heard talking about it on the radio.
Horner can be brief about that suggestion. "Apparently Toto felt it necessary to point out that we have gained speed on the straights, when in fact nothing has changed," said the Red Bull team boss.

Horner and Marko are one of the reason for me that I don't want that the title to go to Verstappen.... And as I have seen until now, Max is beginning to be a little hypocrit like Horner and Marko..
Bret you are 100% right. Horner pointed out that Toto want to distract their own cheating by poiting the finger to the competition. It’a funny from some one who uses the party mode for yeara to put them selfs on Pole as a team who had this advantage. You could argue if this was legal, but this was not the only sneaky trick they have had. So they are not entitled to point the finger to RB. Instead, they are looking further how to cheat again to win this championship as they have always done.
Like changing an engine that had nothing wrong with it.
Toto is only foooooling ignorant f1 fans with no knowledge of f1. Sky f1 analysis proved merc used an illegal wing to win the Brazil gp which they will no longer use as they risk dq. RedBull flattens itself on the straights and ever since the clarification of their whole wing assembly and stricter testing for rigidity, Horner has been gunning for Toto. Sour grape.

I am sure FIA is sick of hearing Honer crying … ?? Merc is cheating- ?look their engine - ? at their wing , ? it’s non stop …FIA needs to talk to the governor and tell him stop constantly pointing fingers at Merc and race like he tells everyone else to do when he is defending Mad Max when he does a questionable maneuver on the track … How can anyone respect Horner crying his way to a championship??? FIA needs to set some strong lines with RB

Merc are always complaining…even with their sneaky tricks. Horner is right. Everytime Toto will use his power to complain about RB’s wing, etc. Also telling everybody that RB have more speed, but most of all races Merc had the upperhand in straightline speed. Lulu complains always about fibrations in his tyres, but that is always to let RB think he is in trouble, in the hope they will stop so he can drive on. “I think there’s something with Max his rearwing” even complaining during the race. Bah
