Isack Hadjar has won the main race in Formula 2. The Campos driver narrowly outsmarted Gabriel Bortoleto. Joshua Durksen completed the podium, ahead of Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
Polesitter Bortoleto had a poor start to the race and dropped back to P4. Bearman grabbed the lead from P2 on the starting grid. Hauger and Miyata briefly ended up off track, but otherwise the opening phase passed without any significant problems.
Bearman made a pit stop from the lead on lap eight to get new tyres, but his car stalled twice. As such, he drove in the rear for the rest of the race. Due to a diverse range of tyre strategies, the field slid.
After 20 of the 35 laps, Isack Hadjar held the virtual lead. Three laps before the end, he moved into the lead for good. Salient detail: Belgian Amaury Cordeel, thanks to an alternative strategy, drove in the lead for a long time, but he could not finish his race due to a rear tyre that was not properly fixed during the pit stop. The tyre came loose and hit a mechanic who was fixing Pepe Marti's rear tyre at the time, with the bizarre result that Marti also lost his rear tyre on the way out.
Hadjar did not relinquish the lead after this, despite an exciting battle with Bortoleto in the closing stages. Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished fourth.
