Red Bull junior puts pressure on De Vries with win in Australia

Ayumu Iwasa has taken over the championship lead after the main race in Formula 2. The Red Bull Racing junior managed to win the race, on top of which he also grabbed the fastest race lap, which is good for two championship points.

“Finally, I won the feature race here in Australia. I’m so happy about the result," the Japanese told us after the race. "The pace was good, after the safety car it was quite close, but still, I could win the race."

Three race weekends are now behind him, so Iwasa has now taken over the lead from Ralph Boschung, who failed to score any points this weekend. The lead over number two Théo Pourchaire is now eight points. The Japanese is confident about the rest of the season: "I think we are improving massively since the beginning of the season, so it’s really positive and we need to keep pushing to the end of the season."
