Lando Norris has changed on a personal level, he acknowledges in the Beyond The Grid Podcast. The young Briton is all too keen to become world champion, but waves away the advice of experts.
The outside world has repeatedly told Norris that if he wants to become world champion, he would have to have an over my head mentality. The man from Bristol wants no part of that. "I want to be the best in the world, but do I have to anything to go over the top and show that and prove it? I don't think so." The McLaren driver is not the type for it, he thinks:"People say that you have to be brutal, have that a mentality, but I don’t think that it is true at all."
The talented youngster has, however, gained a thicker skin in recent years. Where previously he could suffer from outside criticism, he now knows how to put that aside. "In 2019 or 2020, I would read something and wonder why that person that this thing or done that. I almost cared too much about what people [thought]. Now, I really enjoy seeing what people write about me. I love reading all the bad things, I just learned to laugh [about it]." The Briton is still waiting for his first F1 victory. His record currently includes six podium finishes and one pole position.
