Sebastian Vettel is retiring after this season, Mick Schumacher has not yet signed a new contract and Germany does not have its own Grand Prix. The great motorsport nation is less and less relevant in Formula 1.
There is no prospect of a new race, Formula 1 boss Stefano Domenicali says in an interview with Sport Bild. The Italian does read regularly that Hockenheim and Nürburgring would like to host a Grand Prix. But: "If I don't call, I don't see or hear much from Germany.
Grands Prix are sold out all over the world, one circuit after another wants to host a race. "It's a mystery to me how you can't build a business around a Grand Prix these days. But if you can, we will have a race in Germany again," says Domenicali.
The F1 boss says he would like to return to Germany. But then there must be a budget. He indicates that the F1 organisation has no intention of covering costs. No doubt in the knowledge that other countries are eager for a Grand Prix and Liberty Media is transferring a considerable amount of money.
