Panic at Ferrari: 'There has been a lot of focus and attention'

Carlos Sainz drives a Ferrari car this season. Where the Spaniard had a difficult start at his new team, he is now even above Charles Leclerc. During the season the Ferrari team made a big impression on Sainz.

The driver saw Ferrari working pretty hard to improve the car after the French Grand Prix. During the race it became apparent that the Italians were not getting the front tyres to work properly, which meant that tyre management was pretty poor.

"There has been a lot of focus and attention on this issue because the problem at Paul Ricard was so dramatic," Sainz explained to Motorsport-total.com. "The moment this happened, we all flew back to Maranello, had a few meetings, did some analysis and worked intensively in the simulator for two, almost three days to understand our car and find out what caused this big problem."

Sainz played a supporting role at Ferrari

Although Sainz was keen to help Ferrari's employees find the problem, he realised that his role was mainly in terms of giving feedback. "As drivers we can't do much more. And the engineers take care of the rest. It's been a lot of fun and I've enjoyed it a lot."
