Qualifying for the United States Grand Prix is over, so it is once again time to see how the team-mates compare. Carlos Sainz provides a little surprise, while the gap at McLaren is painfully big.
Max Verstappen beat Sergio Perez again in qualifying, widening the gap towards his teammate. At Ferrari, Charles Leclerc has been the obvious leader for a while, but in Austin, Sainz managed to secure pole position. However, the gap between the two drivers is still big.
Lewis Hamilton has officially won the qualifying duel by finishing higher than George Russell. With three qualifying sessions to go this season, the young Briton can't end up on a par with the seven-time world champion anymore. At McLaren, Lando Norris beat his teammate again. The gap with Daniel Ricciardo is painfully big. Apart from Lance Stroll's strong qualifying, there are no further big surprises in the qualifying duels this weekend.
