The 2020
Turkish Grand Prix was one big slide and that is still a possibility in 2021. There is according to
Weather.com There is a lot of rain planned around the Intercity
Istanbul Park.
The organisation of the
Turkish Grand Prix has taken care of the circuit since the last edition. The new asphalt that was laid offered too little grip for the
Formula 1 drivers and caused huge slides, especially in the rain. The organisation says that this year should be better and that is a good thing because there is rain on the schedule again.
Sliding in Turkey
On Friday it's still mainly cloudy and about 22 degrees in Istanbul. The chance of rain during the first two free practice sessions is only seventeen percent. These might be the only dry sessions of the weekend though, as showers are expected on Saturday. The chance of rain in no less than 66 percent.
On Sunday there is also a 54 percent chance of rain and the temperature drops from 22 to 20 degrees during the weekend. It will be interesting to see how the circuit develops. There should be more grip, but what will happen when there is rain and therefore little rubber to lay down?
