The British Grand Prix started with chaos. Max Verstappen immediately took the lead from Carlos Sainz, but further back things went wrong. Guanyu Zhou went upside down across the gravel trap and into the barrier.
George Russell, Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly and Guanyu Zhou were all involved in a violent crash. Zhou's Alfa Romeo flew upside down off the track. For Russell and Zhou the crash means the end of the race, while Ocon and Gasly can still head for the pitlane.
Meanwhile, Alfa Romeo has announced that Zhou is out of the car and will be brought to the medical centre.
Well done safety crew!!! That was a very difficult extrication... Best wishes and GET WELL SOON Zhou!!!
First lap racing incident to be honest. Did Charles complain of hamilton for giving no room at turn 3.
No wonder, he didn't mention it directly by mentioning his name.
race accident, but the one who started this mayhem was George that's all
Gasly is to be blamed as well for that over ambitious move. He should have known, he would get squeezed if goes for it.
don't agree but can be, as I saw it and George said it! George had no grip, gasly was already on that position when George steered to the left! where the mayhem started!
Glad Zhou is okay. These 2022 cars are just to stiff, that AR should not have flipped like that. In previous years thr rear of the car would have absorbed the impact and broke .
Happens when two rotating wheel touch each other. They produce a force that goes directly upwards
Thats a lot for force, the car should have broke apart at that point. The rear suspension points shouldn't have stayed in place .
Glad Zhou is ok. Not seen a replay but watching that car on its roof flat out would have been scary
very lucky Zhou, Russell to fast to the left forgot Casly was stil there
just saw a video from the spectators, the only man start running was a black guy, he thought probably he was in a horror movie, where it a blondie or black man dies always first, don't shoot me just a joke on a horror movie!
George just said what I already stated, it was his fault, on hand tyres, no grip!
