The weekend in Qatar was another one to quickly forget for Sergio Perez. The Mexican was running in the points during Sunday's Grand Prix, but had to retire his car. Entering the final Grand Prix of the current season, 'Checo' would like to deliver a strong performance for his team, the team report.

Perez 'owes the team'

Perez realises that getting a result essential this upcoming weekend. "Heading to Abu Dhabi, it’s important to me to have a very strong final race of the season. I owe the Team and myself a solid, all round performance across the weekend. We have been seeing improvements week on week recently and the pace has been there, now we need to put it together," Perez began.

For the Mexican, the weekend in Qatar was disappointing. Finishing at least inside the Top 5 looked to be possible, but things went wrong during a safety car phase. After his clutch overheated, Perez had to abandon the race. "Everything was going so well in Qatar and the podium was in our sights. It’s frustrating for everyone that we couldn’t convert that positive position in the race into something more," he reflected.

Looking ahead to Abu Dhabi GP

The Red Bull driver is now focusing his gaze on the final race of the season. "The aim in Abu Dhabi will be to make up for that disappointment. It has been a very up and down season for me and I will be giving everything I have to end it on a high," the driver concluded.

Who are taking bets that he will unfortunately, disappoint again?
Look at 2023. In the absolutely fastest car in the field, he qualified in P9, 0.73 seconds behind Max.
However, because of the shear speed of the car in the straights, he was able to overtake a few cars and finished in P4 for the race.
This year, with the RB being slower than McLaren, Ferrari and possibly even Mercedes, I will predict he wont be in the top 10 on the grid.
He might not be knocked out in Q1, but definitely he is not making it to Q3.

"He might not be knocked out in Q1, but definitely he is not making it to Q3."

I said before qaulli at the last race that he may end up 6th or 16....he stuck it in 16....

Not saying he will get knocked out of Q1,but at this stage it is a achievement if he does and a miracle if he gets passed Q2....even if h does that, there is no guarantee he will do anything in the race to get excited about.

He'll probably end up spinning it again and claim a issue with the car caused it,because,it ain't never his fault.

What he meant to say however he rambled on...

""Heading to Abu Dhabi, it’s important to me to have a very strong final race."

He keep using"we" every time he fail to achieve. Never once he blame himself

I think it is a culture thing where he says "we" instead of "I". I don't follow all his statements but as long as he also says "we" when he has a positive and/or successful race, it should be all good.

It’s their way of saying himself. Just chill
