Sergio Perez had ambitions of becoming world champion this season, but in the middle of the summer break, the title is already out of the question. For the rest of the season, Max Verstappen's teammate at Red Bull Racing is focused on clinching second place in the championship. For that, it would be nice if Perez does not qualify from outside the top ten too often.
Five consecutive times this season Perez failed to reach Q3, forcing him to play catch-up each time during Sunday's Grand Prix. That is probably why the Mexican is the leader in the 'most drivers overtaken' ranking. In total, Perez managed to overtake a rival 59 times this season. That was much more then number two George Russell. Incidentally, Max Verstappen is third on the list.
Sergio Perez and the others return from their summer break at Zandvoort later this month. Last season, that was a race in which the Mexican started and finished fifth.
